Gold Coast Pride postpones Pride Beach March and Fair Day due to weather forecast.

The organisers of the Pride celebrations on the world famous Gold Coast in Queensland Australia have postponed tomorrows Parade and Fair Day due to a weather forecast, that has seen historic flooding across SE Queensland and Northern NSW, which has been declared a national emergency.

The Pride celebrations went inside to organisers main venue, “Chameleon Lounge and Bar” at Broadbeach just south of Surfers Paradise.

Guidetogay.com’s team travelled to the region to cover the parade and fair day, but alas, due to the weather forecast, which did not eventuate until the Monday after the Pride events, we have not been able to capture much of this amazing communities unity and celebration. However, we did manage to check out the local haunts, and also capture some content for our Youtube Channel and instagram.

The Gold Coast is often compared to the USA’s Miami. It is a large city for parties, celebrations and tourism, and has suffered greatly due to the pandemic and the recent El Nina flood events.

Organisers are planning on staging the Beach Parade and Fair Day in June, later this year.

Hi folks, we have some really sad news – unfortunately we have just had to cancel tomorrow’s Pride March and Pride Fair at Macintosh Island due to a new forecast of potentially dangerous weather (electrical storms and flash flooding). We’ve received advice from stakeholders that the risk is just too high. Our hearts are heavy as not only were we really looking forward to it but we know so many of you were too. We know a lot of people had already put a lot of work into their market stalls, and costumes and dance routines for the march, and also that we have so many beautiful people already up here from elsewhere for the events and we are so SORRY.It’s heartbreaking but we have to put safety first. We are looking at rescheduling in the first week of Pride Month – June – and will be in touch as soon as we have that new date locked in. We think we’ll just have a bit of a party at Chameleon Lounge Bar so please come along and help us drown our sorrows … and bounce back bigger, brighter and stronger than ever for Pride Festival 2022, Take #2!! Thanks for all your understanding of how devastating it is for us, and we’ll see you beautiful people really soon.

xxxx Vince & Danni

We had the pleasure of staying in the iconic Q1 tower – the coasts tallest building, who proudly lit up in Pride colours on the Saturday night for us. And wow, what a place to stay, check out the quick room tour an amazing views with Rob.
