Tamworth Regional Gallery and Tamworth Pride nominated for award for Trans Day of visibility exhibition/event.

Tamworth Regional Gallery has been named a finalist for an IMAGinE award for their programming of our Trans Day of Visibility event which was held in March this year.

Co-convenor of Tamworth Pride, William Paul Weller said

“The partnership between Tamworth Pride Inc and Tamworth Regional Gallery in running this event (they do all the work we just hang some decos 😂) is a significant one.

This event was the first public event (this was the 3rd year of it running i believe) in Tamworth celebrating and honouring Transgender and Gender Diverse people and its always such a wonderful event full of joy and then the reminders of why days like that are so important.

Our last event was attended by a diverse crowd and featured speakers, transgender drag queen Missy Sparkles and the Gallery also featured local transgender artist Evelyn Alvarez who also performed some songs on the day.

We congratulate the Gallery for their allyship in creating a wonderful event to create visibility for the transgender community in Tamworth and its surrounding suburbs!!”
