The Sydney Convicts
The Sydney Convicts are Australia’s first gay and inclusive Rugby Union club. Founded in 2004, the Convicts are a group of passionate individuals with a common theme – committed to building a competitive, social and diverse club. We compete in the Sydney Suburban Rugby Union championship (Subbies), under the umbrella of Woollahra Colleagues RFC.

Community
The Convicts are proud members of both the LGBTIQ+ and NSW Rugby Union communities. Together with our partners and sponsors we strive to grow the conversation around anti-homophobia in sport, and for many years have been involved in creating real change. This includes launching an Anti-Homophobia & Inclusion Framework for Australian Sports on the back of hosting the 2014 Bingham Cup in Sydney and leading the ‘Out on The Fields’ survey – the first international study on homophobia in Sport.

During our season we train and play at our home ground in Rose Bay, Sydney / Gadigal Land with the Woollahra Colleagues RFC

Zero Tolerance Statement

The Sydney Convicts Rugby Club has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of bullying, harassment, or vilification of people with diverse sexuality and/or gender. Homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and interphobia are not accepted within our club.

We acknowledge and recognise the traditional owners of the land where we train and play, and continue to pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present.
