New Yorks worst airport to be torn down and rebuilt

Gov. Andrew Cuomo introduced a plan Monday to redesign and rebuild LaGuardia Airport, replacing the cramped, outdated hub that Vice President Joe Biden once said befitted "third-world" countries with a unified terminal that will have more than double the space.

Once the joke of global travellers, La Guardia will now become a single unified hub rather than a splattering of terminals.

The new design requires a complete teardown, but once rebuilt it will increase the operational air space which will combat delays and shortfalls the complex was renowned for.

Ground breaks early next year, with construction expected to be completed within 36 months.
