Mardi Gras Announces 2009 Party Line Up

  • Published in Latest
Today New Mardi Gras (NMG) announced more details on the line-up for Mardi Gras Party 2009 including the DJs performing across five of the venues and live performances by Natalie Bassingthwaighte and West End star Alison Jiear.

The Royal Hall of Industries (RHI) stays true to its roots as the home of anthems with DJs Kitty Glitter, Wayne G and Dan Murphy on the decks as well as the Grammy-nominated Freemasons announced in December.

The Freemasons are back at Mardi Gras after setting the Party alight in 2007 with their trademark blend of samples and loops from classic dance and disco tracks with contemporary house and electronic sounds.

The RHI will also play host to some of the biggest shows on the night. NMG confirmed there will be surprise performers on the night, but can today announce live shows centred round the two great female talents.

Natalie Bassingthwaighte will appear at Mardi Gras Party for the first time -debuting a Mardi Gras exclusive track from her solo album, 1000 Stars. The popular presenter of So You Think You Can Dance, former lead singer of The Rogue Traders and Gold Logie nominee from her days on Neighbours is sure to set the party alight.

Alison Jiear is the original voice behind one of the best-loved gay anthems of recent years, I Just Wanna Dance. Alison is originally from Queensland and is returning to Sydney to star in Jerry Springer: The Opera at Sydney Opera House in late March.

The Hordern Pavilion will blend House and Progressive House with spectacular visual effects. As well as headliner – and the man who opens Madonna’s world tour - Paul Oakenfold, partygoers will get to dance to Brent Nicholls, Alan Thompson and Mike Kelly.

Tribal will be the style in the Dome with Annabelle Gaspar, Ben Drayton, Rob Gilbert and Feisty DJing and the scenic drawn from the world’s tribal traditions.

After the success of last year’s live music in the Forum there will again be a mix of rock, electro and disco in this atmospheric venue. DJs Avra, Dan Random, Matt Vaughn, Stereogamous and Lauren Flax will star alongside live performances by Beau Monde, The Ones and Infusion. The audience can expect a big surprise act on the night as well.

For the first time the Coach Carpark is going to be fully integrated into the party and will serve up original retro sounds throughout the night courtesy of David Hiscock, Justin Scott and Jake Kilby as well as winners of the Mardi Gras DJ Spin – Off competition.
