Seventh Heaven

It's that time of the year when we come together to give back to the community.

After the huge success of Heaven's 7th birthday (ha ha to those who thought it wouldn't last) and Haven charity night last weekend, we raised $2277 with record crowds turning out to help us party.

I say thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

Hopefully we can work together and keep the momentum going so people will support the social dances in Western Sydney. Times are tough trying to get people to come out to socialize... Moving forward; I have decided to keep Kaleidoscope running as long as people support it with the next date scheduled on 2nd August, hosted by well known Richmond diva - Wilhelmina Scott.

Hopefully we get 60 people to cover the costs and at the end of the year will make a decision when we do our annual World Aids Day dance party. Is it worth keeping ? We have negotiated with the venues for our dates for 2015, moving them from the start to the end of the month. For more information check out the What's on Guides here on!

In other exciting news Heaven Social Dance has locked in and started coordinating their brand-new :production show "GAYLIENS" on Saturday, 13 September at the Northmead Bowling Club, From 7:30pm-12:30am and have recently discovered it's going to be a massive weekend with the 8th Annual Parramatta Pride Picnic Locking for Sunday, 14 September, From 10am-4pm.  OMG at a NEW location moving away from Parramatta Park will this affect the numbers? and will it affect Heaven's social dance turn out? Only time will tell.

Sometimes the best sort out plans just don't work out the way we would like them, no matter how much we communicate and work together.

If you do not support these events in Western Sydney they won't take place.

In other exciting news, Unity Wollongong INC. has taken off.. filling the gap after the local Gay night club at Wollongong shutdown.. Unity is a long-running social group in Wollongong which provides a place in the Wollongong area for the G.L.B.T.I.Q community to socialize, not to be mistaken for Unity in Sydney, so get out and support some of these fabulous events if you live in Wollongong or live in Western Sydney, we can only run these events if you support them will not last for the next generation.

Their next event is a Glow party (UV colours suggested), to be held at Hostage, 270 Crown Street, Wollongong. $12 entry from 9pm.

Which western suburbs drag queen is becoming more well known for all the wrong reasons?
She was recently involved in an altercation with another out-of-drag, drag queen in the car park at an event resulting in a larger-than-life lump and a sore head! Followed up with outrageous antics at a local McDonald's restaurant. McDRAMA!

Which drag queen has turned into a diva after only doing drag for a year and has become very precious? Hopefully in time she'll remember her friends, bring herself back to reality and become fabulous again...

That's it for this month, Until next time gorgeous

Are you running an event, social dance or happening thats relevant to the LGBTQI community?
List it on the Whats On guides so people all over can know about your event!

Mirror Mirror

... on the on the wall, I wish I had a crystal ball.

After a very disappointing June long weekend at Kaleidoscope Social Dance 4th birthday party, fundraiser and a one off production show by three of Western Sydney's most fabulous and popular drag queens - Laydee Kinmee, Marilyn Mootrub & Ophelia Shaft, we ended up losing money on the night, which was set up in the first place to raise money to keep the night running.

Due to a lack of attendance, the big question is over the coming months we will be in negotiations with the venue to change the date of the dance to the end of the month in the next year so it doesn't clash with long weekend or other big events.

This might help as we need at least 70 people every dance to cover the cost of entertainment and DJ and function hire and as of late this has not been the case.

At the Parramatta Golf Club, I really wish I knew what was going to happen in the second half of this year so I could plan for next year as most people are aware we do our dates a year in front and it is sometimes very hard not to clash with other events or maybe just finish up Kaleidoscope at the end of the year and focus on my baby " Heaven Social Dance ", which will celebrate its 7th birthday on 12 July at the Northmead Bowling Club; Hosted by Me, Geoff Fields from 2Day Fm and Pandora Box, with 17 of Western Sydney's best performers donating their time to help raise money for the Western Suburbs Haven - Looking after people living with HIV and Aids based at Blacktown.

In the past our birthday night has raised thousands of dollars with over 150 people attending the night, so mark this one in your diary it's going to be a big one.

Only tell if Kaleidoscope doesn't have a future in Western Sydney as we still have three more dances left at Kaleidoscope at the Parramatta golf club and three more dances at Heaven at the Northmead Bowling Club.

With over 100 people attending every dance at Heaven (50 is quiet, 80 is good, 100 is fabulous), it may be a case of continuing with Heaven in 2015 on the last Saturday of every second month starting in January with "Frocked Up #3" which has already been locked in for 2015 however, we're still in negotiations with the Parramatta Golf Club for Kaleidoscope for next year's dates - if we decide to continue with it!

IMG 0486So please come and support these nights in Western Sydney because myself and the other co-ordinators do not get paid for running or organizing these events.

With a small entertainment budget and all proceeds after initial cost being donated back to the community, why wouldn't you come? It's a safe environment to be gay be fabulous and wear whatever you want!

You can follow us on Guide To Gay or Facebook...

Do you think two social dances in Western Sydney is too much?
We love your feedback or should we just do six social dances a year instead of 12?

In the past we had some great social event in Western Sydney like
"Castaway "
" Dolphins "
"Pash/4Play "
" Diamonds & Pearls ".

These have come to an end for one reason or another, so please come and support social dances and events in Western Sydney.

I'm a little bit over preaching to people to come and support them if you don't support them I will just give up.

I have conned my gorgeous new flat mate Felicity Frockaccino into producing the next production show at Heaven which will be launched on 13 September.

Rumour has it, two of Western Sydney's drag queens are involved in a little bit of Kai Kai. (awww aint that cute!) I wonder if they're doing it in drag, or just in makeup? Love, lust, lipstick - it's all good.

That's it for this month
Until next time gorgeous!

It's Time To Unite

Well well well it's that time of year where it starts to get colder and we have to focus on getting bums on seats at the events out west!

Heaven Social Dance just did the final production of the show “2Gay 2function” on the weekend with it being one of our biggest nights this year!

As most of you are aware Laydee Kinmee started at heaven in a talent quest in 2009 and now has agreed to come back and help us keep the nights running with a brand-new one off production shower 'Queens of Country' Featuring Ophelia Shaft , Marilyn Mootrub and LayDee KinMee + launching her brain NEW CD "Faster". This will take place on the June long weekend (7th June) at the Parramatta Golf Club

This is a night not to be missed with all proceeds after initial cost going to keep Kaleidoscope Social Dance running at the Parramatta  golf club...

We are also looking for feedback from our regular patrons and their friends in regards to the future of social dances in Western Sydney. At the moment we run one dance a month in Western Sydney. Is it a case of too much of a good thing and should we change it to increase the amount of people that attend the night taking into consideration that none of us that run the event get paid for doing this and hold down full-time jobs. Also our priority was to provide a safe place for the GLBT community to socialize with their friends and drag queens in Western Sydney and have a place to perform and receive a small appearance fee and raise money for great organizations like Acon and the Haven.

So if you have any feedback please contact me on, and leave your comments so we know what you guys want.

This year to acknowledge IDAHOT (International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia) there will be a stall in Parramatta Mall – THURDSDAY 15th May from 11am to 2pm. They will have support from the Local Police, PFLAG, Parramatta City Council, ACON and MCC Church. There will be food trucks, games and lots of giveaways. They are promoting tolerance and understanding, so if you are in the Mall on Thursday for lunch, pop by and say hello.

And the Canterbury - Bankstown Group are also having an IDAHOT BBQ on Saturday 17th  May from 12pm-3pm at East Hills Park , East Hills. The day will include a free BBQ, information stalls, games, a continuation of the “Rainbow Quilt” and a photo campaign, that they are planning to call “ I am Bankstown”. All are welcome.

DRAG GOSSIP: With a New Zealand supermodel Felicity Frockaccino moving out West to team up with a “diva has been”, Me after finally getting rid of all my drag.. Drag will return to my house. Will it be a case of two larger-than-life people killing each other? .. In other Gossip rumour that there is another fabulous group / business starting in the Penrith area called "FLAME", they will be organising social nights/dinners on Thursdays and a monthly dance on a Saturday night. 'Hopefully' it will not be an overkill of events in Western Sydney. I will keep you informed as information comes to me .. And as the Federal Budget is handed down will it be a case of the end of community radio "Queer out West 89.3Fm" as we know it because of funding cuts..  Time will only tell. I should know by next month and I'll have a clearer understanding

Until next time be safe and look after each other!

Drags To Bitches... Finally

buttercup gtgOMG! Finally after 2 1/2 years in the making, 'Drags To Bitches' finally hit the big stage at Helensburgh Workers Club on the 29th March. After many cast changes and ups and downs, singing sensation, reality TV star and my drag daughter LayDee KinMee and her partner in crime Prada Clutch and Western Sydney drag queens: Ophelia Shaft, Marilyn Mootrub , Conchita Grande + newcomer Ménage A'Trois took to the stage and WOW the audience loved it! It was a sell-out night.

Something different to the normal drag show is on offer, with live singing drag queens, dancing and fabulous costumes by Cliff Corton. I sat in the audience thinking how fabulous that most of these girls are from Western Sydney!

It was great to see they have come so far in their trade with a great concert that includes a mixture of country, pop divas and camp classics.

It's only the beginning for this troupe of performers, and with bookings at RSL's across the state, it will surely pay off for all their hard work. It may have taken a while – but good things are worth it, right?! Make sure you keep an eye out for when they're at a club near you and head along and have a fantastic night out.

Talking about LayDee KinMee, she has agreed to come and help us save the social dance scene in Western Sydney with her partners in crime!

She will put together a spectacular show for the 7th (long weekend) Kaleidoscope Social Dance / 4th birthday party – which will help raise money to buy a spotlight and keep the social dances running for the gay community in Western Sydney.

This will be a dance not to miss with the "Queens of Country" show giving you a fun outing for the Queen's birthday long weekend at the Parramatta Golf Club. Mark it in your diary now as you will want to be here for this one!

In other exciting news

pandoraboxHeaven Social Dance will come together for the final instalment of "2Gay 2Function" on 10th May at the Northmead Bowling club. With a few cast changes and a few different numbers it will be worth seeing if you did not see it the first time. Hosted by the fabulous Pandora Box and cast members like Coco Foxx, Ricky Renee & cameo appearance by Lola DelArte. The CD launch of LayDee KinMee's New CD "FASTER" and a live and intimate performance so be early for the tables from 7:30pm. It's going to be a big night so mark it on the calendar.

shout film festival 2014On Sunday the 11th May gay folk will take over the Event Cinema at Campbelltown for their third annual shOUT! Gay, Lesbian & Trans film festival. This is the first time Western Sydney has been included in this event.

Will Geoff Field from 2Dayfm return to Western Sydney? We are hoping that after his very successful appearance last year – we will welcome him back for July 12th at Heaven, raising money for Western Suburbs Haven Inc, supporting those living with HIV/AIDS.

It's going to be another great night out at Northmead Bowling Club – where the fabulous Pandora Box will join me – and there will be a BIG announcement on the night. One that will affect the whole of Western Sydney – so you have to be there!

Is it as case of too much of a good thing is not a good thing? Change is coming...

Make sure you check out the re-booted, re-designed and GORGEOUS new website for Queer Out West, you can request songs, vote in polls and chat during the show – all on the show's own website...

Until next time stay gorgeous : BB xxx

bevmarchOMFG! It's my birthday and I'll bitch if I want to!

This month I celebrate my Birthday, that meaning... I'm 47! Oh how time flies. Over this time I've seen so many venues come and go. We've lost many in Western Sydney as well as the City this year and its only March!
