My most recent achievement is getting my baby Heaven to its 6th birthday party.
At the 6th annual Charity Night on the 20th July we had three amazing shows, hosted by some very special guests and it was a jam-packed evening of entertainment.
I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped out on the night (sorry if I've forgotten anyone). The special guest hosts Felicity Frockaccino and Sandy Bottom (and myself), every performer (too many to name), Jerome (Health and Promotions Officer, ACON) for all your efforts on the door and organising things. The Star Observer & Guidetogay.com for their countless support. DJ Shaft, Gay Matchmaker for major prize donation and to every patron for coming along and supporting the night.
Also a very special thanks to Ian, Gracie, Markass, Arran, Lawrie & LayDee KinMee and all the wonderful performance.
I have never seen so much audience participation and involvement during a number and it was fabulous.
This year saw over 100 people in attendance and $1030 raised for the youth of Western Sydney (being distributed by ACON). In total, in the last 6 years between Heaven & Kaleidoscope we have been able to give back to the glbti community by raising over $15,059. Thank you everyone!
You can find out when the next Heaven Social Dance is by visiting the Guidetogay.com Whats on Guide on the website or app - you can even RSVP and download the details to your iCal!
The next Kaleidoscope Social Dance will be August 3rd. MC: Sandy Bottom & guests Eve Fury, Danger Del Rey, Fifi Fo'Fum, Wilhemina Scott & Ruth Les-Blaq Heart at the Parramatta Golf Club.
It's great to see so much support at these events, but we must keep this attendance up to see social nights continue in the West. As we've just locked in all our dates for 2014, remember that in order to continue running the night you'll need to support us. In the past, other nights have come to an end and lack of attendance plays a big part in this. It's pretty sad as the organisers put in so much effort to create a safe and fun night out for the local LGBT community. There are only two nights left running in Western Sydney so PLEASE support them!
OMG I will be hitting the big screen in a short film/documentary ''Beverly Buttercup - Raising More Than Eyebrows'' Directed by Lawrie Walters with cameo appearances of other community members, the documentary is about social and charity events in Western Sydney.
Something I suggest that everyone should come and support is Queer Short, happening on August 10 for one night only.
It's a queer short film festival at Parramatta's Riverside Theatre.
$10 will get you cool queer short films, Q&A with the filmmakers, goodie bags, lucky door prizes... Come and support the Haven and enjoy a $4 sausage sizzle post movie. It kicks off at 7pm, tickets can be purchased at the venue box office.
And on a last note the ''Queer Out West'' team would like to welcome Brad Wright from Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras to the microphone, on the first Monday of every month.
We are now available "on demand/podcast" as well as having you listen live every Monday night! Your show, Queer Out West 89.3fm, at your time! Available whenever you want to have a listen.
Have a look at our official website and become a member of our forum and add your own community events or feedback. www.queeroutwest.com
Something BIG is coming to Western Sydney! "Sisters of SIZE" for two shows only.
14th Sept & 9th Nov 2013 at Heaven, it's a "Frock You" production.
