International queen of R&B, Dance and Pop - Deborah Cox will make a grand return to Australia at the annual Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Party on Saturday 5 March, 2016.
The Grammy nominated singer-songwriter, best-known for the dance anthem “Absolutely Not”, has been a staple on club floors since breaking into the scene in the mid 90’s.
Deborah was discovered by industry legend Clive Davis, and has since become equally acclaimed as both a powerhouse R&B vocalist and a dance music diva.
"Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here" became the longest running #1 single of all time on the Billboard R&B charts (14 weeks), while she hit #1 on the Billboard Dance chart an unprecedented twelve times. She made her Broadway debut in the lead role of Elton John & Tim Rice’s "Aida" - from which she remixed the ballad "Easy As Life" into another club anthem.
Deborah famously duetted with Whitney Houston on "Same Script, Different Cast", and last year was chosen to provide the voice of Houston in the TV movie directed by mutual friend Angela Bassett.
A firm favourite of the LGBT community, Deborah has been honoured many times for her efforts in the fight for equality, including the Civil Rights Award from the New York Senate.
