The View to get a little more Rosie?

ODonnellIt's been a daytime TV smash hit for donkeys years, and since Ms. Walters departure several more of the The View girls have moved on - voluntary or not, the jury is out on that one. However with the rumours of a seven figure, 1 year contract offered for her return to the desk, Rosie O'Donnell apparently will also get to approve her new co-stars.

We have done our fair share of hanging out at The View studios - it's a great production, and one that really speaks to a wide section of mainstream America. With producer Bill Geddie leaving along with Barbra, Rosie's issue with split screens and Elizabeth can finally be put to rest!

So who would make a great co-host? Here is our two cents worth:

meghanmccain theviewHECK YES!
Meghan McCain
She is the daughter of ex-Presidential campaigner, John McCain and a young conservative. Not "Fox and Friends" conservative nor an extremist, but would be a voice for those with conservative values, to bring a bit of "balance" to the panel and one that would appeal to a wide audience, including any homo left wingers...  LOL!

americaferreraHECK YES!
America Ferrera
The 'Ugly Betty' star is a champion of popular culture - besties with mega songstress Adele, and is someone we would love to see rep the Latino demographic. Such a cutie and someone who could hold her own against anyone on the desk - or a guest sent in to ruffle feathers.

vanessa williams theviewHECK YES!
Vanessa Williams
Need we say more? This lady can handle a scandal and do it with class. We think she would be fierce!

sarahpalin theviewHECK NO!
Sarah Palin
The part-time Governor and Vice Presidential candidate should clam down and keep those crazy catchphrases to herself. The show would be stupid to give her relevance and their powerful platform. An international joke and a dangerous person. You know she threw her own hat into the ring - cause either way she wins.
Get on the show - win, or not get on and she can moan that the mainstream media hates conservatives like her.... yawn. NEXT!

JURY IS OUT
GAY GUYS
Well, we think having a permanent gay male co-host isn't necessarily the right fit. After all this is a show about WOMENS point of view. Maybe bring on the gays for topics of relevance or as guest panellists. Better still, get a gay woman on board. Now that would be fabulous!

We hope those in the know will get The View back onto international TV networks which have been missing it recently (like Australia, hello!), and give all of us across our big gay world a daytime fix of fabulous women giving their points of view on Hot Topics and more.

Who do you think should be on the panel next? Leave your ideas in the comment section below.

And if any of our picks get offered a slot, we would gladly accept a finders fee!

TV Week Logies Embarrass Australian Television yet again.

Kylie-MinogueIts supposed to be TV’s night of nights, but with the Logies, one could be forgiven to believe that it’s more comedy show, than awards show.

In a night that should be a seamless production, you can do a drinking game with all the various GLARING faults you encounter by watching this train wreck of a show.

1. Take a shot when the microphones don’t work (check)
2. Take a shot when the cameraman looks like he has picked up the camera for the first time (ever)
3. Take a shot when the overseas guest says how embarrassed they are.
4. Take a shot when you can easily pick who is miming or not.
5. Take a shot when an artist is forced to do something only just recently seen on another awards show overseas.
6. Take a shot when you have gone onto social media to see other people writing about the exact same complaints you are.
7. Go to bed, cos you are so over watching it and you are sloshed out of your brain.

Aside from that terrible performance by Kylie (sorry darling - this time we really hope you didn’t pay your dancers!) The banter from Hamish and Andy was pretty funny - and Tina Arena nailed her performance on the in-memoriam segment.

American Idol Features First Openly Gay Finalist

mkAs shocking as it may seem, it has taken 13 seasons for ‘American Idol’ to feature an openly gay finalist.

While many acts have come out after their run on the show – Clay Aiken, Frenchie Davis, Adam Lambert – no finalist has been “out” while competing.

2014 finalist, MK Nobilette became the first contestant to openly discuss their sexuality during their time on the show. Better yet, she spoke openly on the actual show itself. In an emotional conversation with the judges, the 20-year-old talent said she thought America was evolving and that her sexuality could be seen as a positive thing.
MK is not the only fabulous-ness that ‘Idol’ has to offer this season. On the very same episode as her groundbreaking moment, fellow finalist Emmanuel Zidor camped it up for the judges.
One reason previous contestants may not have been forthcoming with their sexuality is that they are competing for America’s votes. Discussing sexuality, like politics, could potentially lose you a sizable portion of your voting audience.

Another reason could well be the shared claim many former contestants have made, that they were ordered by the network and show producers not to discuss their sexuality.

Season 1 finalist Jim Verraros claimed that while competing on the show, Fox made him remove his online journal, which included mentions of his sexuality. After his run on the show, Verraros revealed he was gay in an interview with The Advocate. He went on to star in the gay-themed ‘Eating Out’ films.

Season 7 contestant, Danny Noriega claims he was reprimanded after getting sassy during live shows. "I really don't want to trash-talk the show, but I just wasn't allowed to be as 'out there' as I wanted to be. I was actually told to calm it down.” After being voted off, he was a guest on ‘Ellen’ & received a personal offer from Rosie O’Donnell to perform on her gay & lesbian cruise. Danny later created a drag persona, & as Adore Delano is currently competing on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 6 opposite Australia’s Courtney Act.

While we can’t say for certain if these claims are true, it is interesting to note that there were major changes behind the scenes ahead of this season, including new executive producers. Another influence may have come from ‘The Voice’, which was applauded for featuring several openly gay contestants - making Idol’s omission even more glaring.

For whatever reason, it is definitely a welcome change.

It is also inspiring to see what several gay Idols have chosen to sing about during life after the show. 2nd placed Season 9 finalist, Crystal Bowersox sang of her bisexuality on her recent single, ‘Coming Out For Christmas’.
After finishing Top 5 on Season 1, RJ Helton released a Christian album. His coming out during a radio interview made waves in the Christian music world – which perhaps added further poignancy to the lyrics in this performance of composer Scott Alan’s song ‘Blessing’ – which became a massive viral hit after being highlighted by Perez Hilton.

Look Who's Coming To Ramsay Street

Paula-Abdul NeighboursPaula Abdul dropped by downtown Erinsborough this week to film a cameo appearance on long-running Australian soap opera, 'Neighbours'.

Paula’s appearance on the show involves a romantic storyline with Dr Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher) who reveals a long-time crush on the acclaimed singer, songwriter and dancer.

Viewers will need to wait until June to find out if Dr Karl’s fantasy comes true, or if he and wife Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne) make it to their 20th wedding anniversary. Perhaps opposites do attract?

“I remember watching Neighbours when I was in England in the 1980s. I thought it was a lot of fun and for it to still be popular after nearly 30 years is an amazing achievement,” said Paula.

“Everyone was so nice and I will admit, Dr Karl was very charming. I had a really lovely time.”

Abdul is currently spending time Down Under serving as a judge on 'So You Think You Can Dance Australia'. While in town, she attended the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Party.

NBC picks Peter Pan for next live TV Musical

NBC-Peter-PanHot on the heels of the mega smash hit, The Sound of Music Live, NBC has chosen the piece, Peter Pan to be it's next venture into live TV Musicals.

"We're very pleased to be underway on 'Peter Pan' as our next live holiday musical for the whole family," said NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt. "We were all delighted to see how 'The Sound of Music Live!' struck such a chord in December and brought nearly 19 million people to the live telecast plus another several million viewers over the weekend. In the hopes that lightning strikes twice, we think we've landed on another great Broadway musical - which ironically also starred Mary Martin - that is a timeless classic for all audiences, young and old, who just never want to grow up."

"We're thrilled to be reteaming with NBC and Bob Greenblatt in bringing 'Peter Pan' back to its roots as a live television event," said Zadan and Meron. "We hope to create the joy that has made this musical so beloved. We would like a whole new generation to experience 'Peter Pan' and for families across the country to share the magic."

Featuring the iconic songs "I'm Flying," "I've Gotta Crow," "I Won't Grow Up," and "Never Never Land," and a book full of magic, warmth, and adventure, PETER PAN is the perfect show for the child in all of us who dreamed of soaring high and never growing up.

The broadcast is scheduled for December 4, 2014.

Casting is currently underway although no names have been attached yet.
