SMILE AND BE HAPPY

Smile or Silence are two powerful tools. SMILE is the way to solve many problems and SILENCE is the way to avoid many problems... Choice is YOURS to make!? Its helped me so much in the last 12 months just SMILE & keep my mouth shut. (I never said I was good at it lol)

So much has changed with acceptance comes change or maybe just I’ve changed? Change can be a good thing or a bad thing and don’t get me started on politics. Let me pose a question! Do you think Western Sydney still needs LGBTQI events and social nights just for the LGBTQI Community anymore? As we have so much choice and have come a long way to be excepted I remember when starting (drag) 25 years ago we had so many social events as there were not many places the LGBTQI people could go to in Western Sydney but that is not the case anymore there is so much happening in the community I would love your feedback below don’t be shy gorgeoussssssssssss.

I"M SO EXCITED We had 4 fabulous dances at Mounties Bowling Club this year and I want to say a special thank you to everybody who has helped us raise over $30,000 at Heaven Social Dance for The Haven and ACON. With that said I'm proud to announce that we been very lucky to lock in dates for 2019 at Mounties Bowling Club - Fairfield on the second Saturday of every second month starting on 9th February 2019. A special thank you to the Mounties Group for their support and understanding throughout this process , as most people are aware a lot of things have changed and we need to keep up with the changes and we hope everyone will continue to support us at Mounties Bowling Club  and help us provide a safe place for the LGBTQI community and for the local Drag Kings/Queens to have somewhere to perform with some exciting things planned for 2019... www.heavensocialdance.com

THE POLLYS CLUB will present POLLY-TICKLY INCORRECT: Honey, what's this, what's happening, what's with all the dirty talk? Also, what's with the nuns? They seem to have an appreciation for short-cut dresses and curse words. They say the C-word rather well!!   Welcome to Polly-Tickly Incorrect, which is very politically incorrect. It is not recommended for small children, big Trump babies and social justice snowflakes. It contains naughty stuff, silly language and big floppy breasts. That last one is especially true if one of the cast members decides to de-frock onstage... It's not part of the routine but it is the reality of the situation. WHEN: Saturday 15th September 2018 WHERE: Marrickville Town Hall, COST: Pre-book via the website for $25 or $20 concession (must provide concession card upon entry). Otherwise it's $30 (cash only) at the door from 7pm-12am www.thepollysclub.com.au

IN OTHER NEWS  This year has been challenging to say the least I’ve tried my hardest to keep gay radio alive in Western Sydney in February this year we announced that we would be doing a new program called Pride Radio but we would have to pay to do it, so to continue doing the program we rely on people from the community to contribute to the program. We have been lucky enough to have The Polly's Club and Acon help us this year in paying for our Air time ($1000 a year). We still need funding for website advertising so if you can help out go to the website and make a small donation as I really think it’s important to keep the program going with or without me there should be always a LGBTQI community radio program. We would love to have your feedback!

Produced By Beverly Buttercup, With Fifi Fo’Fum and Melicious D’amage (on rotation) in the studio, Every Sunday 6pm-8pm, A LGBTQ Music Program Supporting L.G.B.T.Q Artists / DJ’s / + A weekly guest and Gavin Prendergast From ACON and Felicity Frockaccino on a fortnightly rotation at 7:15pm . On The Radio / Online www.prideradio893fm.com + App is available Search For 2GLF 89.3FM ally true if one our cast members decides to de-frock onstage... It's not part of the routine, but we must remember the reality of the situation.WHEN: September 15, 2018

DRAG GOSSIP: Tensions are brewing at a long running social event 2 popular queens who have been on the scene for a while are locking heads to such extremes that one of them walked out screaming and won’t return…. Who are these 2 queens gorgeous? Well let's just say that sometimes swallowing causes damage…. With long-time rivals, let’s call them ‘'Celine & Barbara'' sucking it up and coming together for charity to raise money for their singing teacher. Will this be the beginning of something new time will only tell (Drag) is just so competitive now specially for those working girls that do drag for a living thank God I only do it socially now lol once or twice a year .... Something NEW to be announced next month testing the waters with a new event!?

Until next time (13SEP) Stay gorgeous Bx   www.beverlybuttercup.com

UK TV Star Duncan James opens up about being Gay

  • Published in TV

UK TV Star and boyband member, Duncan James has opened up about his sexuality in a candid interview on TV show - Loose Women, saying that coming out was "the best thing he ever did".

Duncan is best known for being a member of boyband Blue, but he is currently starring in Hollyoaks as detective Ryan Knight.

Fans of the soapie will know that his character Ryan is currently hiding his sexuality, after it was revealed he was cheating with Kyle Kelly on the night his wife Amy Barnes died. (ooooer!)

And after reflecting on his character's storyline with the Loose Women panel, Duncan started to open up about his own experience.

"After years of carrying this secret inside me, I wanted to be who I am", he explained of coming out. "I wanted acceptance. I carried this burden on my shoulders for so many years.

"I was worried about what the fans would think, I was worried about family and friends, and I was living a lie really. It was the best thing I ever did.

"I did a story in a newspaper about coming out and it was one of the best things that could have happened."

On the reaction he received, Duncan added: "I thought people would say horrible things, but nothing happened. I just had positivity, love and support.

R.I.P QUEER OUT WEST. 2002 to 2016

  • Published in Latest

All good things must come to an end in December

Queer Out West 89.3Fm Will celebrate 15 years on the radio supporting the LGBTQI community of western Sydney now produced by Beverly Buttercup that took on the role in 2011 I (Beverly) has decided not to reapply for the program in 2017 this will see the end of the program in its current format with last program going to air on 19 December 2016

" I realise something I'm trying to hold on to things that I should've let go off a long time ago considering I went into semi retirement from Drag in 2013 and no longer in the loop " So I will let it go in December (and do something different next year like relax and put myself first) so being a little dyslexic and relying on other people that let you down !! it is just no longer practical I cannot do the show by myself or put a show together and then end up being in the studio  by myself just too stressful so much has changed in the studio and in my life and then there's the politics !!! I need to let it go and give someone else the opportunity to step up and create a new program for the LGBTQI community in 2017 so if you're interested in putting a program together and can volunteer  around six hours a week plus training course plus meetings and you have to become a member of the co-op ..

So all you have to do is contact the co-op of 2GLF - Fm 89.3  Community radio for more info : This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

That have supported many LGBTQI programs over the years like ; The Out West And Proud Program , Lesbians On Air  and Queer Out West .. So you have a couple of months to come up with an idea apply for a program and do training if you're excepted .

I would like to say a special thank you to all the current presenters for giving  up a few hours a month and come into the studio or participate in the program ;

Nikki Facchin  , LayDee KinMee , Fifi Fo'Fum , Pandora Box &  Jeremy Smith.  Plus a special thank you to Gavin Prendergast  (ACON) , Rob Manser (G2G) &  David Watson Formally from  (Mardi Gras) And all special guest DJs that of come out to the studios in Liverpool : Dj Justin Scott , Dj Victoria Anthony , Dj Ray Isaac , Dj Dome  DeSousa, DJ Anvi...

warmest regards

Bev.
