Leading global TV production company, FremantleMedia Australia has confirmed to Guidetogay.com that production will soon commence on talent show I Will Survive.
Describing the show as a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity", the Ten Network programme offers the winner a chance to join the cast of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert on Broadway with an audition call going out this morning on the FremantleMedia website seeking "triple threat" theatre performers - those who can sing, dance and act - to attend auditions around the country.
Select performers will then hit the road Priscilla style on the big bus to retrace the route taken in the hit movie, from Sydney to Alice Springs, performing at locations along the way. Judges, mentors and industry professionals will be on hand to "challenge, train and critique" the performers, who will be reduced to a final four by the time the tour reaches Alice Springs.
The final four will then undertake three weeks of training in New York City for the role of Tick, and rehearse with the Priscilla cast. In addition to the opportunity to join the cast, the winner will also have a month in New York to meet with agents, casting directors and producers in order to further their newfound career. This also gives a new lease on life to the Broadway production of the musical - which has the backing of entertainment superstar, Bette Midler.
Auditions begin in Brisbane on 15 April, with the show expected to debut on Ten later this year.
