Pride Picnic Goes Out West

Hello, my darlings! Welcome to my latest column - it has been an interesting month and some fab stuff coming up for Western Sydney - so let's get to it and make a difference for our community out west!

Pride Picnic

Sunday 28th October will see the Parramatta River Foreshore explode in Gay Pride with the return of the annual Parramatta Pride Picnic in its 12th year.

Your hosts for the day will be the fabulous Marilyn Mootrub & Pomara Fifth and on the decks DJ Shaft.

There will be activities galore throughout the day including live entertainment, yoga class, book launch, readings, face painting, the rainbow kid’s area, rap artists, the gay & lesbian choir, bands, 35 community stalls, and the Priscilla Ferry (coming from Circular Quay). Various food vendors, Coffee van and a Fully Licensed bar. A special event called "THE GAYMAZING RACE" (where participants race around Parramatta CBD collecting stamps and clues and the WINNERS get prizes). The theme of this year's picnic is '' NO ONE LEFT BEHIND " to reflect the less than favorable response to Marriage Equality last year - we want our community in Western Sydney to know they are not alone, we want to be out and proud and living our best lives in the burbs !!! I really hope people make an effort to come to the PRIDE PICNIC, Riverside Foreshore in Parramatta (Ferry wharf) from 11 am - 5 pm

Get busy on all the socials with the hashtag:  #PARRAPRIDE18.

Heaven Update

Well in other news on 6th October, Heaven Social Dance had one of its quietest nights of the year.
Has our community become COMPLACENT?
Do our patrons believe we are always going to be there?
I understand that there is always going to be other things on but people have to understand we only do 5 dance’s a year, if people can’t attend 3 of them there is no point in us doing it.
We have just locked in all our dates for 2019 and we can only continue to run if we get the numbers to cover the cost of running the event, with all proceeds after initial cost being donated to charity. If we can’t get the numbers there is no point in me taking time off work and stressing and worrying about something other people do not care too much about.

On a personal note I created heaven with my fellow sisters and partners in crime to provide a safe place for the LGBTQI community in Western Sydney, their friends and family to socialise and drag queens to have somewhere to perform but it seems there’s not a lot of loyalty a lot of things have changed.

We have one more dance left at the end of the year it’s for World AIDS Day it will be our last “Red Party #7”.

All proceeds going to ACON so please mark it in your diary 8th December with 3 big shows 8, 9 &10pm hosted by LayDee KinMee, Melicious D’amage and Pomara Fifth with 12 fabulous performance @ Mounties Bowling Club Fairfield from 6 PM to 12 AM. $15 on the door.

For more information check out our website: www.heavensocialdamce.com - make sure you also join the official group here on Guidetogay.com

In other news!

The Polly’s Club sadly regrets that they have to CANCEL The Rainbow Costume Ball scheduled for 20th October due to a lack of interest and a lack of tickets sales. I am not quite sure what is going on but here’s another case of complacency people want these things, suggest these things but then don’t support them it is really sad because The Polly’s Club for many years has supported many organisations and have donated thousands of dollars to charity I was quite looking forward to the rainbow costume ball it was something different. I think people forget it costs money to run these kind of events I really hope people get behind the Polly's club for their World AIDS Day Dance "Under The Mirror Ball" 1 December @ Marrickville Town Hall tickets available online from 15th October for $25 or on the door for $30 on the night for more info www.thepollyscub.com.au

Show has been produced by my sister in crime at Pride Radio 89.3fm and Polly's Club member Melicious D’amage and from what I have been told the Pollys Girls and boys are going to be working their bits off.

Join the official Polly's group here on Guidetogay.com

R U - OK?

Ok this Thursday, 13 September is R U OK ? Day. This national day of action is to remind everyone that any day is the day to ASK R U OK !? But I believe every day should be R U Ok day not just one day of the year, to many people are caught up with their own lives or are just too busy to ask if someone is OK until it’s too late, I hope all my friends & family are OK and if any of you are not OK then Buttercup is always here for you anytime you need a FRIEND to chat to. www.ruok.org.au

There may be a RU OK call in to the radio show - so make sure you tune in for a VERY special guest.

So it’s spring time and it’s time to get together with friends at the Pollys club as they present “POLLY-TICKLY INCORRECT” It's the weekend where The Pollys Club Sydney gets really tongue in cheek. We've got naughty nuns, horny showgirls, super-fat sumo wrestlers, lustful Jesus cheerleaders, and at least one hundred references to genitalia of all sorts. Including that triangle thing that women have.
If you don't laugh watching this show, then you're probably an apathetic twat. When: September 15, Where : Marrickville Town Hall , From : 7pm -12am , Prebook via Sticky Tickets (link below) for $25 adult fee or $20 concession (must provide concession card upon entry). Otherwise, it's $30 on the door (cash only) for more info www.thepollysclub.com.au

In other exciting news just after the long weekend Heaven Social Dance on the October 06th will present the final instalment of decades of gayness “ Dec-Gays “ featuring ; Coco Foxx , Danger Del Rey and Miss Conception , From 6pm -12am at Mounties bowling club Fairfield. Only 5 minutes from Fairfield train station, come early have something to eat, socialise and catch up with friends in an awesome environment we have the whole venue to our self to be gay or should I say free gay and happy with a spot show at 9pm and production show at 10pm. $10 entry on the door there’s no excuse not to come out and catch up with friends for more info : www.heavensocialdance.com

DRAG GOSSIP ; Which Western Sydney Drag Queen did quit a multi award winning drag show after 2 years for the second time. First time due to a lack of bookings, and pursuing more financially stable drag and makeup work, One year on was it worth it?? The Award - Winning show is bigger and better than a year ago , fingers crossed people do not get bored with drag BINGO otherwise she'll be looking for Centrelink.. With so many drag queens now relying on work in local clubs and rsl  doing bingo or trivia I asked the question, Mirror Mirror on the wall, what will the future hold for those that don't have a backup plan ? Thank god I have a full time job and don't have to worry about things like this anymore. Will she now learn the difference between work collages and friends? Will her former work collages continue to be her friend? Sometimes it can get hard to distinguish the difference between work collages and friends..

SMILE AND BE HAPPY

Smile or Silence are two powerful tools. SMILE is the way to solve many problems and SILENCE is the way to avoid many problems... Choice is YOURS to make!? Its helped me so much in the last 12 months just SMILE & keep my mouth shut. (I never said I was good at it lol)

So much has changed with acceptance comes change or maybe just I’ve changed? Change can be a good thing or a bad thing and don’t get me started on politics. Let me pose a question! Do you think Western Sydney still needs LGBTQI events and social nights just for the LGBTQI Community anymore? As we have so much choice and have come a long way to be excepted I remember when starting (drag) 25 years ago we had so many social events as there were not many places the LGBTQI people could go to in Western Sydney but that is not the case anymore there is so much happening in the community I would love your feedback below don’t be shy gorgeoussssssssssss.

I"M SO EXCITED We had 4 fabulous dances at Mounties Bowling Club this year and I want to say a special thank you to everybody who has helped us raise over $30,000 at Heaven Social Dance for The Haven and ACON. With that said I'm proud to announce that we been very lucky to lock in dates for 2019 at Mounties Bowling Club - Fairfield on the second Saturday of every second month starting on 9th February 2019. A special thank you to the Mounties Group for their support and understanding throughout this process , as most people are aware a lot of things have changed and we need to keep up with the changes and we hope everyone will continue to support us at Mounties Bowling Club  and help us provide a safe place for the LGBTQI community and for the local Drag Kings/Queens to have somewhere to perform with some exciting things planned for 2019... www.heavensocialdance.com

THE POLLYS CLUB will present POLLY-TICKLY INCORRECT: Honey, what's this, what's happening, what's with all the dirty talk? Also, what's with the nuns? They seem to have an appreciation for short-cut dresses and curse words. They say the C-word rather well!!   Welcome to Polly-Tickly Incorrect, which is very politically incorrect. It is not recommended for small children, big Trump babies and social justice snowflakes. It contains naughty stuff, silly language and big floppy breasts. That last one is especially true if one of the cast members decides to de-frock onstage... It's not part of the routine but it is the reality of the situation. WHEN: Saturday 15th September 2018 WHERE: Marrickville Town Hall, COST: Pre-book via the website for $25 or $20 concession (must provide concession card upon entry). Otherwise it's $30 (cash only) at the door from 7pm-12am www.thepollysclub.com.au

IN OTHER NEWS  This year has been challenging to say the least I’ve tried my hardest to keep gay radio alive in Western Sydney in February this year we announced that we would be doing a new program called Pride Radio but we would have to pay to do it, so to continue doing the program we rely on people from the community to contribute to the program. We have been lucky enough to have The Polly's Club and Acon help us this year in paying for our Air time ($1000 a year). We still need funding for website advertising so if you can help out go to the website and make a small donation as I really think it’s important to keep the program going with or without me there should be always a LGBTQI community radio program. We would love to have your feedback!

Produced By Beverly Buttercup, With Fifi Fo’Fum and Melicious D’amage (on rotation) in the studio, Every Sunday 6pm-8pm, A LGBTQ Music Program Supporting L.G.B.T.Q Artists / DJ’s / + A weekly guest and Gavin Prendergast From ACON and Felicity Frockaccino on a fortnightly rotation at 7:15pm . On The Radio / Online www.prideradio893fm.com + App is available Search For 2GLF 89.3FM ally true if one our cast members decides to de-frock onstage... It's not part of the routine, but we must remember the reality of the situation.WHEN: September 15, 2018

SHOW YOUR SUPPORT IN PURPLE Wear it Purple Day is coming, what are you planning for 31 August this year to show support for rainbow young people? Make sure you get your Wear it Purple Day event registered! Head on over to www.wearitpurple.org to access the 2018 resources!

DRAG GOSSIP: Tensions are brewing at a long running social event 2 popular queens who have been on the scene for a while are locking heads to such extremes that one of them walked out screaming and won’t return…. Who are these 2 queens gorgeous? Well let's just say that sometimes swallowing causes damage…. With long-time rivals, let’s call them ‘'Celine & Barbara'' sucking it up and coming together for charity to raise money for their singing teacher. Will this be the beginning of something new time will only tell (Drag) is just so competitive now specially for those working girls that do drag for a living thank God I only do it socially now lol once or twice a year .... Something NEW to be announced next month testing the waters with a new event!?

Until next time (13SEP) Stay gorgeous Bx   www.beverlybuttercup.com

It's celebration time!

Wow this month The Polly's club celebrate 54 years supporting the LGBTQI Community, over the years Polly's have donated thousands of dollars back to community organizations because that’s what they do support the community. This month they return to the Roundhouse at Kensington to put on a birthday party like you’ve never seen before Polly's will present "The Bitches Of Broadway!"

Produced by Sue Allen a long time member. The Polly's show cast have been rehearsing for weeks to put on an amazing show, this is one birthday party not to be missed. Tickets available online $35 or on the door for $45. Unlike their Marrickville dances this is NOT a BYO event or are you able to bring your own nibbles. Come out and support The Pollys Club, a not for profit organisation and one of the longest running LGBTQI social clubs...

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Polly's committee for donating money to keep ''Pride Radio 89.3fm Every Sunday from 6pm - 8pm www.prideradio893fm.com organisations like Polly's only exist because the community members support Polly's check out their official website for up-and-coming dances they do five a year and give so much back to the community so if you have the opportunity go and check some of them out normally at the Marrickville Town hall.

www.thepollysclub.com.au

So much has come and gone in Western Sydney and in the city so people need to get out and support social events like Heaven Social Dance , The Polly's club, Unity Wollongong & The 3 Sisters Social Group in the blue mountains the only ones left running on a regular basis, over the years they’re stuck it out through the bad and the good so please support these organisations that give back to the community because without you they wouldn’t exist

With the growing amount of acceptance also comes change with a lot of LGBTQ venues either closing down or don't exist anymore. We no longer need to travel into the city for a safe refuge as our local pub and clubs are now so accepting and we can hang out with all of our friends both gay and straight and in venues much closer to home, and Western Sydney is BOOMING at the moment with drag trivia’s and bingos popping up everywhere.

Portia Turbo is the head queen at the ever popular and expanding TURBO TRIVIA & TURBO BALLS and writes up a fabulous variety of questions and games each week for you to enjoy. You aint never seen trivia quite like this.
It's Free to play and all the venues have excellent kitchens, so bring your friends for a fun and inexpensive night out.

Monday: At The Overlander, Cambridge Gardens (Penrith) = Bingo 7:30pm With April Fools.
Tuesdays: At Parramatta RSL = Trivia 7pm With Portia Turbo.
Tuesdays: At Penrith Hotel = Trivia 7pm With LayDee KinMee.
Wednesdays: At Mounties Triglav (in St Johns Park) = Trivia 7pm With LayDee KinMee.
Wednesdays: At Mr Watkins Bar ( Penrith) = Bingo from 7pm - 9pm With April Fools.
Wednesdays: At Greystanes Inn (Greystanes/ Merrylands) = Trivia from 7pm With Portia Turbo.
Sundays: At Austral Bowling Club (Liverpool) = Trivia 6pm With Portia Turbo.

Also going very well out west is Heaven Social Dance…. WOW... Over the years, Heaven has raised more than $25,997 for charity since first starting in 2007 and Kaleidoscope Social Dance also raised $7,863 in its 4 years of running = THATS A combined TOTAL OF $33,860 (as of June 2017) for the Western Suburbs Haven Inc and ACON, both registered charities doing great work in the western suburbs. Hopefully we can get that figure up and over $35,000 by the end of the year with your support, so please come along and support us at HEAVEN SOCIAL DANCE. Our next dance is on 04AUG at Mounties Bowling Club , Cnr Ulverstone st & Lawson st Fairfield From 6pm -12 , Entry $10 , Shows at 9pm & 10pm Presents ''DEC-GAYS'' With Coco Foxx , Danger Del Rey, Crystal Ball in a NEW show decades of gayness
For more info check out our official website: www.heavensocialdance.com

draggossipDRAG GOSSIP: Which 2 drag queens who were raised in Western Sydney and are now enemies are being forced to re-unite for a fundraising show? Will there be fireworks? Will they get along? Will they perform a duet? I personally miss the 2 of them performing together, so I hope they do get together for a special reunion duet, it will be a show not worth missing. I'll keep you posted on the gossip gorgeous...

With the Shift closing in 2017, what has happen to all the fabulous showgirls? Who has given up forever, who has moved in with the illegal refugees in Villawood, who has considered returning to their formal porn career, who is moving to Byron Bay and who is considering a career change? Only time will tell gorgeous. The fabulously which is Fair Day Sunday 18th February , started as soon as we exited the car and were approached by a young man who offered us a "service" in the laneway in glebe a couple years ago .. considering it was the second time in 19 years that I have attended Fair Day as a boy and I still nearly got lucky, he made me feel like a dirty old man so we ran off to Park to join in the festivities... and this year fair day will RETURN to Victoria Park, City Rd Camperdown From 10am-8pm, just one of thousands the people sitting on a blanket in front of the main stage. It's a sign that I really am a nobody, nobody will recognised me or will they after being plastered all over the Liverpool & Fairfield Champion (the local paper) last year in and out of DRAG !! OMG !!

When Fair Day is over you know the Parade is soon to follow on 03 March . After walking and working the parade for 17 years, this year be any different lol As last year I watched the parade and enjoyed it so much now I'm getting older, it seems the route gets longer... despite offers to be part of a float, this will be the third year in a row that I will be watching the parade from VIP Area and dashing off to the party with my partner in crime to see CHER and some of the legends of drag .. my peers :) I just had too much fun last year at the Party out of drag so this year will be half boy half drag lol . I'd like to see more floats and social groups from the West be involved this year for the 40 anniversary for Mardi Gras, it seems everyone splits into other groups at Mardi Gras time when it should be a time that we unite? www.mardigras.org.au

draggossipWhich Western Sydney drag queen now feels the need to attack me/heaven just to promote something she's doing!! Last time I pay her for anything gorgeous.

In other gossip, which former Western Sydney drag superstar has been BANNED from all the Asian fabric shops?

Apparently, she was caught putting things in her bag while she was walking around the shop. Oh no!

Which Western Sydney Drag star might have bitten off more than she can chew by working up to 6 nights a week and is now sick? She is due to fly out the country at the of the month and then there is The Voice or should I say no voice at the moment! (Hope you get better asap!)

Until next time Gorgeous, BB  www.beverlybuttercup.com

Have a Happy and safe Mardi Gras!

Y'all up for some more D.R.A.M.A? ;-)

Drama Drama Drama! (& Controversy) surrounding Richard's Got Talent #3

"Have you got what it takes to be Richards on the Park's next drag superstar '' ? Well it all finished on Friday the 10th November with 12 contestants competing over 4 months to take home $1000 + 6 Month residency at Showtime .

Who said there's nothing exciting happening in western Sydney With the contestants dropping out in droves and then there's the controversy with the favourite to win, being asked to leave RGT#3 at the last minute after failing to turn up for one of the heats after a loved one passed away. Whatever happened to COMPASSION?

Oh well it's their loss because she is fabulous and there is always bigger and better for her.. NOW with WINNER Assuma Gender and 2nd Runner up Holly Grail .. let's see if we ever hear from the winner again!?

Don’t forget 'Showtime' is still running on the third Saturday of the month , That's this Saturday 18th Nov from 9pm-3am and it's totally FREE.

It's that time of the year where we put our differences behind us and come together and CELEBRATE everything ''DRAG" with the Drag Industry Variety Awards being announced to be returning in December, OMG after being nominated 8 times for the "Queen Of Hearts Diva Award" it's been fabulous to have won 3 times in the 21 years of doing drag , After I decided in 2013 To go in to semi retirement after doing (drag) for 21 years OMFG !! and I did not attend the 26th Annual Diva Awards. Last year NEVER to receive a nomination again as the queen of hearts award was removed in 2015 never to be seen again time will only tall, With this year's date for the Diva Awards locked in for the 4th of December it will be a lot different I guess as the Sydney Scene has changed a lot !?  www.divaawards.com.au

Drag Gossip

As you all know - I'm a big believer of KARMA!

What goes around comes around! A certain drag queen is name dropping to get bookings and undercutting to take other drag queens bookings and they have not been around very long and most likely won't last very long ..''REMEMBER YOU PAY FOR WHAT YOU GET"   (It's the same old storhy all over again and just a new face who does not know their rep will be riuined in a milli second!)

And with another queen/diva lol .. Ummmmm Cheater Cheater where'd you meet her, what western sydney drag queen can't keep it in her pants for 5 days cheated on her partner but then again what happens in Golum country stays in the land of the long white... "cloud" unless there's a trip to the doctor after lol where'd you meet her?  #meow

Until next time gorgeous! (12DEC)

DRAG GOSSIP !?

OMG there is a lot of bitching, backstabbing, jealousy and fighting for peoples attention at any cost !! I will leave it up to you guys to fill in the blank‘s I don’t want any more drama this month friends then not friends then friends it’s all just too hard to keep up with the well-known puss in Western Sydney being shipped back to the pound to have some training on how to behave and how to be politically correct and how to stop spraying as cats do. Let’s see if we hear from him in the new year. in other news Western Sydney drag queen flys out of Sydney to Korea is it for some cosmetic surgery maybe lap band surgery or is it a case of she need some time out she's a celebrity & she's overworked get her out of  Sydney in other than gossip which Western Sydney (drag) queen will now give the fabulous Laydee Kinmee a run for her money with her recent yodelling performance at heaven as LayDee is very well known as the only yodelling drag queen in Sydney looks like there’s now two of them = FASTER lol

Until next time stay gorgeous : Bx
